About

The Evergreen Project

He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.

Psalm 1:3

We envision a world where every Christian understands and embraces their unique capacity to effect change, moving beyond the church walls to engage their communities with grace, mercy, and unwavering compassion.

What began as a Bible study sequence for new believers, especially those emerging from abuse, trauma, and poverty, transformed into a life-changing framework. Drawing from her personal journey of leaving an abusive marriage and raising two daughters on her own, Irene was driven by a deep sense of injustice to help others find the healing and freedom she found herself.

In the wake of so much brokenness, it's time to rise up and start building bridges instead of walls. We need an army of well-trained Christians who are ready to stop playing church and start being the Church.

Rooted in the belief that every Christian can use their gifts and talents to be a light for justice, equity, and compassion in the world, the Evergreen Framework is designed to produce and mobilize church members through capacity-building training, consultation, technical assistance and coaching.

Through the framework, we are creating a network of passionate faith warriors who are ready and willing to go out into their communities, share the gospel and apply the teachings of Jesus in practical ways.

The proof is in the fruit! Through our work at Southside Community Center, we have seen lives transformed.

We have successfully:

- Trained volunteers to provide evidence-based interventions

- Moved families out of the most run-down parts of the Housing Authority and into fair market value or subsidized housing.

- Mobilized interns to go on to work for Illinois Congressman, in the Michelle Obama School of Art and Science, in ministry, etc.

 Act Locally, Think Globally

There is no act of compassion too small. The power of one voice can leave an indelible impact on the world, so why not use yours?

NOW is the time to bring our collective soul, strength, and resources to the world. Together, we can create a lasting impact that will create ripples reaching the furthest corners of the globe.

It's time to be the Church.
